HP Intel AHCI Driver 8.9.0.1023 Rev.A package contains the Intel Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) driver for the supported desktop models and operating systems.
This driver provides support for AHCI, which is required for hot plug support of external SATA (eSATA) drives. This driver also supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ).

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Adds support for Microsoft Windows 7 Operating Systems.

FIXES:
- Fixes an issue where Event ID9 may be listed in the system Event log after the system has been sitting idle. This issue is related to iastor.sys.

PREREQUISITES:
- SATA Controller must be configured in AHCI mode in order for this driver to be operational. Use the F10 Setup Utility to select storage, and then select storage options and set SATA Emulation to AHCI.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: The files that are extracted in Step 2 include:

- An installation package for the Matrix Storage Manager Software, which installs the AHCI driver. This file is added to the c:SWSETUP folder under the SPxxxxx subfolder.

- A Deployment folder within the SPxxxxx subdirectory that contains the 32-bit and 64-bit drivers for operating system installation and manual driver update. These drivers can be used with the Device Manager, if desired. Just copy the contents of the folder to diskette (floppy) (for Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows Vista) or to USB key (for Microsoft Windows Vista).

NOTE: If you want to have just the driver installed, without the Matrix Storage Manager Software, use the -noIMSMgui switch with the setup program, as follows: c:swsetupSPxxxxxsetup.exe -noIMSMgui

NOTE: In the preceding examples, xxxxxx = SoftPaq number.
